Lake County covers a vast area of south-central Oregon but has a small population. The court handles all family law matters for the county, including dissolution, custody, parenting time, child support, and restraining orders. Because of the low case volume, requests for family court records in Lake County are often processed faster than in urban courts.

Under ORS 192.314, family court records in Lake County are public. Any person can view them. You do not need to be named in the case. Sealed records are the exception. Adoption files, juvenile cases, and mental health commitments remain closed by law.

Searching Lake County Family Court Records Online

The OECI database is the free online search tool for Lake County court records. Enter a party name or case number to get started. Type names as "Last, First, Middle" for the best results. Lake County family law cases use the format XX-F-##### where XX is the two-digit year. Lake County Court Fees

Filing fees in Lake County are set by the Oregon Judicial Department and apply statewide. A dissolution of marriage costs $301 to file. Custody cases for unmarried parents cost $252. Modifications to existing orders cost $89. Restraining orders under the Family Abuse Prevention Act carry no filing fee.

Copies of Lake County family court records cost $0.25 per page for plain copies. Certified copies are $5 per document plus $0.25 per page. Exemplified copies for use in another state are $10 per document plus page charges. You can pay by cash, check, or money order made out to "State of Oregon."

If you cannot pay the fees, you can ask for a waiver. Use Form UTCR 4.090 and provide proof of your income. The court will review your request and decide based on state guidelines.
